This 1,5 – 2 hour guided walking safari in the early morning or late afternoon is very popular with guests from all walks of life. Giraffe, impala, zebra and wildebeest are seen regularly. And of course, the many species of birds and insects. Just as leopard, hyena and lots of jackal tracks in the early morning. The lucky ones also get a chance to see our other (more skittish) antelopes like duiker, kudu and nyala and the buffalo. Take a walk on the wild side!

A 2-hour guided safari in our open safari vehicle gets you deep into the heart of the African bush. Most popular is our sunset-drive. This safari starts around 5 in the afternoon (depending on the season) and makes a stop just before sunset. We get out of the vehicle and enjoy a nice refreshing drink, some snacks and watch the amazing African Sunset. After which we continue our drive back to the lodge. Every drive is different. Every drive is an adventure.

For this 3 hour Big 5 safari we take you to a private game reserve bordering the Kruger National Park. This safari in an open vehicle takes you off road and is very popular and successful. Often 4 or 5 of the big 5 are spotted. Many guests say they have never been so close to leopards or lions and awesome pictures are taken with the guests proudly bragging at the bar afterwards. A must-do during your stay at Wild Dogs Safari Lodge.

You have not experienced Africa in full until you have been on a night safari. The excitement of searching for animals in the dark using a special spotlight (with red filter so we don’t blind the animals) is truly a one-time experience. Besides spotting our normal daytime game (like giraffe, zebra, impala, wildebeest, buffalo), we will be looking for the many nocturnal animals like leopard, honey badger, genet, porcupine and civet. On top of that we make a stop to enjoy a drink and stare at the overwhelming African night sky.

Especially for our young adventurers we have created the Junior Ranger Course. During this 2-hour interactive walking adventure one of our experienced guides will teach them all about tracking animals, animal behaviour, fire prevention, catching snakes, trees, insects and much much more. They will be rewarded with a Certificate to prove to their friends that they are a true Junior Ranger. Parents are more than welcome to come along. For fun or to translate if necessary.

A visit to the African bush is not complete without a visit to the world-famous Kruger National Park. With a surface of almost 20,000 km2 (the size of Israel) the animals have an enormous territory to roam. To get the best experience one of our guides will take you on a full day to this fantastic reserve. He or she will take you to the best places to spot animals and can give you all the information about their behaviour and the surrounding nature. The day tour includes a packed breakfast.

Did you ever wonder what the life of a safari guide or ranger looks like? This is your chance. One of our experienced guides will take you along for half a day. Learning to track animals, to search for medicinal plants and trees, to catch snakes, to survive on insects and study animal behaviour and other signs of nature. During these interactive 5 hours you will also have to prepare your own bush lunch.

Blyde River Canyon is the largest green canyon in the world. It is 25 kilometres in length and on average 750 metres deep, resulting in breath-taking views. On our day tour we will take you to the highlights of this incredible scenery, amongst which Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Wonder View, God’s Window and the Three Rondavels.
